Most casinos have a general rule stating that only one person can play one machine during the peak hours. This rule should be respected and a player who has been playing two machines should relinquish the other slot machine to anyone who wants to play.
For players who have companions with them when they play should not occupy empty chair beside the player for it robs anyone the opportunity play slots. Companions should leave the player to the game and find another game elsewhere.

An empty chair with a coin cup on the slot machines handle means that the machine is being player by another player and anyone who sees this should respect this and find another machine. AN empty seat means that the player has gone to the restroom or has left the gaming area to get change. In casinos that have coinless slot machines players often leave a personal item like a jacket or a hat on the chair to signify that it is already occupied.
Some casinos have attendants that can watch the slot machine while the player takes a bathroom break or a break that may take longer than 10 minutes. It is customary for the player to tip the attendant for their service.
Cards Left in Machine
Some players who have been playing slots for along time might leave the machine and forget to take their gaming cards out of the machine. Players notice this when they attempt to insert their own cards into the slot machine. Proper etiquette does not require the person who found the card to look for the owner or surrender it to the nearest attendant, but to just place the lost card on top of the machine in case the owner comes back. By placing it on top of the machine, the owner would not have to disturb the current player of the slot machine.
Smoking
Most casinos have a smoking section in specific game areas of the casino. One should be aware of these areas as not be cited for violating any state or city ordinances. If permissible while playing slots, the smoker should have the courtesy to use an ashtray at all times.
